Another go at the colour test:

Your Existing Situation
Avoids excessive effort and needs roots, security, and peaceful companionship. May be physically unwell, in need of gentle handling and considerate treatment.

Your Stress Sources
Unfulfilled hopes have led to uncertainty and apprehension. Needs to feel secure and to avoid any further disappointment, and fears being passed over or losing standings and prestige. Doubts that things will be any better in the future and this negative attitude leads him to make exaggerated demands and to refuse to make reasonable compromises.

Your Restrained Characteristics
The situation is preventing him from establishing himself, but he feels he must make the best of things as they are.
Circumstances are restrictive and hampering, forcing him to forgo all joys and pleasures for the time being.

Your Desired Objective
Longs for sensitive and sympathetic understanding and wants to protect himself against argument, conflict, or any exhausting stresses.

Your Actual Problem
Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety, and he is distressed by the lack of any close and understanding relationship. He attempts to escape into a substitute world in which things are more nearly as he desires them to be.

The monologue (Upside Down) had a really good reception from the Writers Guild, considering it was still first draft when they saw it. Let's see how my Creative Writing group respond to it on Tuesday.

Hmm... The March's economy's Strong, it's civil rights are Superb. However, its political freedoms are Below Average. Unfortunate. Let's see how not banning the neo-Nazis from holding a demonstration affects that.

Hogshead Publishing is under new management of a guy who's never been involved in the roleplaying industry before (although I assume he is a roleplayer). They're concentrating exclusively on games for the D20 Open Source system, which didn't go down well at LURPS. Never tried D20, but apparently it's pretty controversial - most people think it sucks, but some think it's manna from Heaven.

The various personal crises regarding that nameless female friend have re-emerged. Her boyfriend's not speaking to her, for several reasons that I'm not going to go into here. However, she's spending the weekend, in her words, 'doing penance'. She says she's only getting what she deserves. To be fair, a lot of what she's put herself through over the past six months or so has been the result of bad decisions on her part as well as her boyfriend's, but I still feel really sorry for her. I should have offered to go over and watch the West Wing with her, to keep her company.

I'll try and see her tomorrow night, if the Sunday wargaming session finishes early.

My writer's block seems to have come to a temporary end - I've just spend the last three hours writing a monologue about a guy trapped upside down in a crashed Rover 75, haflway down an embankment in the countryside.

In between wondering exactly how badly injured he is and observing what the red squirrel eating his peanuts is doing, he talks about his daughter and her boyfriend.

It seems fairly promising. Hopefully the ending isn't too obvious.
